Inboard M1 firmware upgrade increases torque by 40%

Yesterday Inboard announced another free firmware upgrade for the M1. This time they’ve focused on torque! The new V2.3 firmware provides a major upgrade to the torque output of the M1, increased by up to 40% in Advanced mode, meaning significant improvements in off-the-line and hill climbing performance.

Will the torque improvements affect the range of the board?

Using maximum torque draws more energy from the battery during acceleration. For journeys with many start / stop situations, range may be affected similar to the way a car will use more gas if driven aggressively. For most journeys, range is most dependent on rider weight, terrain and riding style. Simple measures such as coasting on flats and pushing off to start can have a significant positive impact on range.

In addition the upgrade includes bug fixes and other app performance improvements to enhance the user experience.

The upgrade applies to all M1 boards, regardless of manufacturing date.
